When Robert J. Pera asked me to design this building, there were not many requirements. He wanted large team rooms, do it on a budget, and “make it impressive.”
At the time, I had been in Ubiquiti for four months so I had a good idea of what we needed. So I went ahead and added more requirements to the project. Although our current HQ was a sea of brown, I did notice the thing he kept in his cube had a distinct aesthetic. I created a short materials list consisting of glass, brushed steel, and concrete. Unlike traditional CEOs who put themselves in a corner office, Robert was on centrally located on the floor with us; that way he could quickly check in with everyone. I went ahead and did the same thing in the new building. Finally, our previously building was a cave and the fluorescent environment we worked in was depressing so I personally wanted a lot of natural light in the building.
The result is in the pictures.
